inspiration... where you at?

I think I've officially hit a wall. Nothing has inspired me lately and I don't know what to do about it. Usually, I can take a walk around the block or peruse the blogosphere and I'll snap back immediately but nothing is doing it for me this week! Silly because things in my life are, for once, going according to plan. I couldn't be more excited to start my job [I got my business cards already... cue the squeals!] and I have some very fun happenings to look forward to in the coming weeks: my college roommate is coming to visit, Lori's housewarming party, my birthday, my first day at my new job, the wedding... so many things! Trust me, I'm very grateful... anddddd I've been out pretending like I'm still in college to celebrate all of these wonderful things in my near future [which has been, by the way, pretty dang fun].

So why have these positive events resulted in neglecting my blog, which is one of the most important things in my life? I'll tell you why... balance! It's something I write about FAR too often but it's my biggest life struggle. All of my attempts to get things in order, balance-wise, end with me being completely neurotic and driving myself crazy. Oy. I think I need an adventure. In the contraption above [how cute is that!?]

Where do you go for inspiration? What pulls you out of a writing rut? How do you balance your life?

sometimes I think inspiration has to find you but then other times if you're in a real lull you have to do something out of your normal routine and that's all it takes. but if I were you I'd stay in your rut and find that cool single camper in the photo and take her for a spin. Looks AWESOME!! :) Cheer up, buttercup. Your inspiration will be back soon. Business cards should be a good kick in the pants! Squeals!

I've had plenty of inspiration lately but my problem is getting the words out. Every day I attempted to write a post about our trip to Brussels and every day I stumbled over my words and deleted the post. Finally, I just put it up as is because I couldn't stand it anymore! Yesterday, I had a fantastic writing day so I hope that marks the end of this slump!

woo for partying like you're still in college! and to be honest, when I'm lacking inspiration, I usually get the heck off the computer and go engage in some real life. that wakes me right up again.

That's a tough question. I like to read beautiful things written by others. Usually, that helps. Or I just take a break for a few days.

I hear you! I've been feeling a little uninspired lately, and I think it has to do with me starting a new job and being soooo busy, I don't have time to be creative. I hate that! but you're right, life is all about balance! xo

Sometime the best thing for me when I hit a rut is to just take a few days off. If I get too editorial minded (I write for a living too, so I'm constantly thinking "How could this be a story or blog post"), I often get uninspired and uncreative. Tuning out and dialing out of technology for a few days ALWAYS helps me!

Writing ruts and walls are the worse. I am currently experiencing it right now too! I always take a few days away from writing to let my mind meddle and rest. I also always seem to have mt best inspiring moments while browsing in antique stores. But my biggest advise is to not panic and breathe. It will come back to you!

perhaps my inspiration is just because i want to share. i actually find i get my of my thoughts driving - i drive so often and when i'm driving i get ideas. also talking to someone about it. i throw ideas for things to my husband for the blog and he tells me yes or no or gives feedback on what to do.

Oh gosh, when you find the secret to balance let me know. This is also what I struggle with the most, for sure. At the moment I can mainly dedicate my time to the blog as it's still the summer, but next week I start university and I don't know how it's going to work. I can only hope that I'll have time for everything! As for inspiration, I often look at my favourite blogs as well as motivational pictures too. x

As a writer, writing ruts are bad. However, when I do hit on one, I start a new project. I read a new genre or author. I browse Pinterest. I find new blogs to read. Sometimes just stepping out of my comfort zone a little bit can give me the boost I need to get back to work.

i totally get this, and i'm not sure what pulls me out of a rut besides maybe the great community i have around me and making choices to recognize all the blessings in our life. cheers to new jobs!
